Take Route 6 West (approx. 20 miles from Killingly). Past the North Windham WalMart, follow Route 6 which bears off to the right. Get off at the first exit (Mansfield, UCONN). At the end of the ramp take a right. At the next light take a right again onto Jackson Street. Go through the intersection and continue straight. Saint Joseph Church is on the left, the Shelter is on the right A large black fence sets the border of the building. Parking available on Jackson Street. Willimantic is about 20 miles from Killingly, about a 30-40 minute drive. Similar directions from Providence. Take 6 West. Providence is 48 miles from Willimantic. Parking is off of Valley St. which can be reached by taking a left at the Jackson St. and Valley St. intersection and taking your first right into the parking lot shared by the shelter and the adult education building (EastConn). Proceed around EastConn by staying right and park alongside the black wrought-iron fence. The front door is located on Jackson St. and can be reached by walkways from the parking lot (front door is to the left of the white statue).

Take I-84E through or from Hartford to I-384E (approx. 4 miles from Hartford). Take 1- 384E to the junction of Route 44 and Route 6. Stay in the right lane and take Route 6E toward Windham/Willimantic for approximately 11 miles. At the intersection of Route 6E and Route 66 stay in the right lane and proceed straight through the intersection. You will now be travcling on Route 66E. Follow this road until you reach the intersection of Route 66E and Main St. in Willimantic (Valero Gas on left, cemetery on right, and Stop & Shop straight ahead). Bear right at this intersection onto Main St. and proceed to follow this through downtown Willimantic. As you pass through downtown, you will come to the intersection of Main St. and Jackson St. (the “Frog Bridge” will be to your right). Take a left onto Jackson St. from this intersection and proceed to the next stop light (Jackson St. and Valley St.). The shelter will be on the upper left hand side of this intersection. However, parking is off of Valley St. which can be reached by taking a left at the Jackson St. and Valley St. intersection and taking your first right into the parking lot shared by the shelter and the adult education building (EastConn). Proceed around EastConn by staying right and park alongside the black wrought-iron fence. The front door is located on Jackson St. and can be reached by walkways from the parking lot (front door is to the left of the white statue).

Take Mass. Pike West (Tolland Road), from Boston/Worchester, to Exit 9-Sturbridge. Take I- 84W approximately 20 miles towards Hartford to Exit 70 (Route 32). Take this exit, Route 32S, toward Mansfield/Willimantic. Continue to travel on this road which will become Main Street. in Willimantic. Proceed along Main St. through downtown Willimantic until you reach the intersection of Main St. and Jackson St. (the “Frog Bridge” will be on your right). Take a left onto Jackson Street from this intersection and proceed to the next stop light (Jackson St. and Valley St.). The shelter will be on the upper left hand side of this intersection. However, parking is off of Valley Street which can be reached by taking a left at the Jackson St. and Valley St. intersection and taking your first right into the parking lot shared by the shelter and the adult education building (EastConn). Proceed around EastConn by staying right and park alongside the black wrought-iron fence. The front door is located on Jackson St. and can be reached by walkways from the parking Lot (front door is to the left of the white statue). The trip from Boston is about 90 miles and 1 hour 45 minute to 2 hour drive.

Take 95N - Providence until you reach the junction of 395N. Follow 395N to exit 81W - Hartford, just past the State Police barricks. After several miles on Rt 2, exit at the Route 32 North sign and continue on 32 North into Willimantic. Stay on Route 32 all the Way to the "Frog Bridge". Turn right onto the "Frog Bridge" and go over the bridge through the Main Street intersection. You will see a large park on the left. Parking is off of Valley St. which can be reached by taking a left at the Jackson St. and Valley St. intersection and taking your first right into the parking lot shared by the shelter and the adult education building (EastConn). Proceed around EastConn by staying right and park alongside the black wrought-iron fence. The front door is located on Jackson St. and can be reached by walkways from the parking lot (front door is to the left of the white statue).
